About
Since 2012, I have lived in the small East Lothian coastal village of Cockenzie. Although my passion for art began at an early age, it was only when moving to my current location that I was inspired to take up painting again.
Inspiration for my work comes from the beauty of nature and in particular, remote & expansive landscapes, big skies & isolation. I work predominantly in acrylics and like to use large blocks of sky colour to create a mood within the paintings and then adding some detail, for example, a lighthouse or cottage in order to draw the viewer into the painting and hopefully instigate a sense of enquiry and reflection about the scene.
Recently I’ve also been experimenting with some figurative paintings which reflects my interest in observing people in various everyday locations. These images are quite introspective in nature.
As well as being able to view my work on line, I also currently have pieces in:
-
Number 4 Gallery, St. Abb’s
-
Marchmont Gallery, Edinburgh
-
Dukes of West Barns, Dunbar
-
An Independent Zebra, Edinburgh
-
Logan Malloch, Edinburgh
